Peterborough Petes News Release
(Peterborough, ON) - The Soo Greyhounds won their eleventh straight game, burying the Petes 8-3 in Sault Ste. Marie on Saturday night.
Adam Timleck picked up where he left off Friday, opening scoring for the Petes at 4:37 and adding his second of the night, on the power play, at 8:44. The Greyhounds cut Peterborough's lead in half at 16:28. The Petes led 2-1 but trailed 14-5 on the shot clock.
The Hounds scored twice in the opening minutes of the middle frame to take a 3-2 lead. Bobby Dow responded 30 seconds later to tie the game at 3. Sault Ste. Marie would close out the period with two more goals, extending their lead to 5-3, and continuing to lead 30-15 in shots.
The third period was all Greyhounds, who added 3 goals to finalize the score at 8-3.
Final shots were 44-20 in favour of the Hounds. Petes goaltender Hunter Jones turned away all 36 of 44 shots in his fifth start of the season.
Declan Chisholm, Pavel Gogolev, Matt Timms, and Nikita Korostelev each collected single assists.
The Petes were 1 for 3 on the power play and 3 for 5 on the penalty kill.
