When in Rome, Do as the GreenJackets Do

Augusta GreenJackets News Release

Rome, GA: The Augusta GreenJackets, South Atlantic League affiliate of San Francisco Giants, got a 6-1 victory over the Rome Braves Thursday night.

The scoring started early for the GreenJackets, when Jacob Gonzalez had a sacrifice fly to right field that scored Heliot Ramos from third. This gave the GreenJackets an early 1-0 lead.

The GreenJackets would then put up runs in three consecutive innings starting in the fifth. These runs hurt the chances of any comeback coming from the Braves.

Most of these runs came at the hands of the Braves lackadaisical play in the field. The Braves had four errors on the night and only one of the GreenJackets runs was an earned run. Though credit must be given to the GreenJackets for taking full advantage of the mistakes that the Braves made.

The GreenJackets were once again dominate on the mound. Starting pitcher Jose Marte went 4 and 1/3 innings only giving up two hits and one run. Then the GreenJackets turned to Peter Lannoo, who went 3 and 2/3 innings giving up no hits and earning the win.

The GreenJackets have now won three in a row. They will play game two of a four game series against the Braves tomorrow night at 7:05 pm.
