Wheatcroft and Becher Dazzle in 5-1 Win Over Kelowna

Prince George, BC - The Prince George Cougars collected their third consecutive win with a convincing 5-1 victory over the Kelowna Rockets, Tuesday at the CN Centre.

Tyler Brennan posted his tenth win of the season, making 19 saves on 20 Kelowna shots. Chase Wheatcroft and Ondrej Becher led the way offensively for the Cougars, combining for six points.

Gabriel Szturc got the scoring started in the final minute of the first period, making a terrific move, beating Tyler Brennan. The Cougars outshot Kelowna 11-6 in the opening period, however, trailed by one after the opening 20 minutes.

In the second, the Cougars found the equalizer early. Riley Heidt put home his 21st of the season to get the game tied at one. Just over 10 minutes later, Chase Wheatcroft made a fantastic pass in tight to Ondrej Becher who backhanded in his 8th of the year to propel the Cougars ahead after 40 minutes.

In the third, the Cats blew it open ,getting goals from Ethan Samson, Ondrej Becher, and Jaxsen Wiebe to make it 5-1. The Cougars limited the Rockets to just five shots in the final stanza. The Cougars 5-1 triumph puts them over .500 on the regular season.
