NEWS & NOTES:
Yager Bombs: The Wheat Kings host a familiar foe in the Moose Jaw Warriors led by 17 year old stud Bryaden Yager. Yager is expected to be a lock as a top 5 draft pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. The battle between Wheat Kings forward Nate Danielson and Brayden Yager should be a fun one to follow. Danielson has been mocked as early as inside the top 10 of next year's draft where as Yager has been mocked as #2 or #3 overall behind Connor Bedard.
Big Boost: Forward Jake Chiasson returns to the lineup after spending training camp with the Edmonton Oilers. Chiasson was able to suit up for one preseason game Sunday Sept 25th.
Starting the Season on a "HY-Note": Despite the loss last weekend it was a stellar performance for forward Brett Hyland who earned first star of the game with one goal and two assists.
Trade: 2004 born forward Tyson Zimmer was traded earlier this week to the Lethbridge Hurricanes in exchange for the Winnipeg Ice's 2023 3rd Rd Pick & the Hurricanes 2024 5th Rd Pick. Zimmer was a 2019 1st round Bantam Draft pick. The Russell, MB native played 87 games with the Wheat Kings scoring 12 times, adding 13 assists for 25 points.
Tonight's game will be available on CHLTV or on a free radio stream on Q Country 91.5. Join Wheat Kings Director of Media Relations and Broadcasting Chase Johnston for the Drummond Farm Service BWK Pregame show at 6:30pm. Puck drop at 7pm.
