
West Virginia Takes Third Straight over Legends, 7-2

Pablo Reyes, Jordan Luplow and Taylor Gushue each drove in two runs as the West Virginia Power took a 7-2 win over the Lexington Legends Friday night in Charleston.
The Power jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning. Bunt singles by Jeff Roy, Cole Tucker and Reyes loaded the bases, and Roy scored when Jordan Luplow was hit by a pitch. Gushue followed with a two-run single, and Luplow later scored when Elvis Escobar grounded into a force play at second base.
West Virginia added three runs in the fourth. Chase Simpson led off with a base hit, and Roy reached first on an error by shortstop Corey Toups. Reyes doubled to left field, scoring Simpson and Roy and giving West Virginia a 6-0 lead. Reyes came home on a double to left by Luplow, and the Power led 7-0.
The Legends got on the board in the seventh inning on a single by Wander Franco and a double by Brandon Downes. They added their final run in the eighth. Toups reached on an error by Luplow, the third baseman. Ryan O'Hearn and Elier Hernandez followed with singles, loading the bases, and Toups scored on a hit by Alfredo Escalera.
The loss extended the Legends' losing streak to seven games.
West Virginia starter Austin Coley (3-0) got the win. He worked the first five innings, allowed two hits and no runs, walked one and struck out six. Sam Street finished the game and earned his third save.
Lexington starter Zach Lovvorn (0-2) was the losing pitcher.
West Virginia has taken the first three games of the five-game series, which continues Saturday. Game time is 2:05 p.m.
