Casimiro, Tromp, Give BlueClaws 2-1 Win over Suns on Friday NIght

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Ranfi Casimiro matched his career long with seven innings and gave up just one run while Jiandido Tromp's RBI single in the bottom of the 7th inning put the BlueClaws ahead and Lakewood knocked off Hagerstown 2-1 on Friday night at FirstEnergy Park.

The BlueClaws (8-8) are back at .500 and have taken the first two games of this weekend four-game series from Hagerstown (6-9).

Lakewood took a first-inning lead on a two-out RBI single by Cord Sandberg. The BlueClaws left the bases loaded in the bottom of the 3rd and left two on in the fourth before Hagerstown tied the game in the 5th inning on an RBI double by Grant DeBruin.

Casimiro (1-2) worked through the 7th inning, allowing one run on six hits with six strikeouts and no walks. The outing tied a career-long set in 2014 with the BlueClaws. He induced three double-play groundouts in the win.

In the bottom of the 7th off reliever Ryan Ullman, Grenny Cumana singled and stole second to start the inning. After a flyout by Malquin Canelo, Jiandido Tromp singled to left-center to drive in the go-ahead run.

Joey DeNato threw a scoreless 9th inning and Matt Hockenberry threw a 1-2-3 ninth inning to earn his third save of the season.

Canelo and Damek Tomscha each had two hits for the BlueClaws while Carlos Tocci's single in the 7th inning extended his hitting streak to 11.

Hagerstown starter Phillips Valdez gave up one unearned run over five innings while Ullman took the loss to fall to 1-1.

The series continues on Saturday afternoon at 4:05. RHP Chris Oliver (1-1) starts for Lakewood.
