Welsh Back for 2002-03 Season Oilers Round Out Training Camp Roster

TULSA, OK- The Tulsa Oilers of the Central Hockey League begin their 2002-2003 training camp on Monday and they have now completed their training camp roster. Defensemen Dan Hopfner will not be in the Oilers camp, as he has accepted a job outside of hockey.

Veteran defenseman Jorin Welsh has spent the last three seasons in an Oilers sweater, playing in 204 games, totaling 113 points on 38 goals and 75 assists. Welsh will be back for his fourth season in Tulsa.

Veteran defenseman Regan Harper will also be attending the Oilers training camp. Harper played two games last season for the Corpus Christi Ice Rays before a back injury sidelined him for the rest of the season. Prior to last season, Harper played for Tupelo, Oklahoma City and New Mexico, appearing in 329 games, totaling 193 points on 40 goals and 153 assists.

Rookie goaltender Tomi Raisanen joins the Oilers after playing in Finland last year. Raisanen, 5-10 and 165 pounds, is expected to be the backup to veteran goaltender Rod Branch.

Defenseman Jared Reigstad joins the Oilers after playing last season for the Rockford Ice Hogs of the United Hockey League. He spent the 2000-2001 season with the Missouri River Otters and the Muskegon Fury. Before that, he played in five games during the 2000-2001 season for the Baton Rouge Kingfish of the East Coast Hockey League. For his career, he has played in 133 games, totaling 47 points on 14 goals and 33 assists.

Forwards Doug Pirnak, Jeff Pierce, and Carey Ernewein round out the 2002-2003 training camp roster for the Oilers.

The Oilers training camp begins on Monday at the Tulsa Convention Center. The practices will run from 9:00 a.m. to noon each day next week, with the exception of Thursday, October 12th when the Oilers will host the Oklahoma City Blazers in an exhibition game at the Oilers Ice Center at 6413 S. Mingo at 7:00 p.m.
