Two Mudbugs to appear in Rochester exhibition game tonight

BOSSIER CITY, LA -- Two players from the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs who are participating in training camp with the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League will play in a preseason game tonight at 7:00 p.m. in Hamilton, Ontario.

Goaltender Ken Carroll and forward Dan Wildfong are both expected to be in the starting lineup tonight for Rochester in their exhibition game against the Hamilton Bulldogs. On Wednesday, the Mudbugs announced a working agreement with the Americans of the AHL for the 2002-03 season. The AHL is the primary developmental league for the National Hockey League.

Carroll, 26, was named the Western Professional Hockey League's Rookie of the Year and Goaltender of the Year in 2001 while leading the Mudbugs to the President's Cup championship. Last season, he spent time with the Norfolk Admirals of the AHL and appeared in one game. Wildfong has spent the last three seasons with the Mudbugs. Last year, he recorded career-highs with 30 goals and 300 penalty minutes.

Rochester will play its first exhibition game of the preseason tonight at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton. The two teams will then meet again tomorrow night at the Webster Community Sports Arena in Rochester.
