ICE CHIPS: The KOOTENAY ICE enter this week's action with a 10-46-6-0 record (8-20-4-0 at home, 2-26-2-0 on the road, 3-6 in overtime, 1-0 in shootouts)...The ICE will not qualify for the playoffs this season for the first time since the 1997-98 campaign, while also ending a WHL record 16 year run of seasons with a .500 or better record (1999-2015)...KOOTENAY will begin the month of MARCH on a four game road trip starting March 1 in MEDICINE HAT.
ROSTER UPDATE: KOOTENAY is currently carrying 23 players (two goaltenders, seven defensemen and 14 forwards)...The ICE roster is made up of two 1995-born players, two 1996-born players, ten 1997-born players, eight 1998-born players and one 1999-born player...KOOTENAY has 11 first-year players on its roster.
AWARDS NIGHT: The KOOTENAY ICE will present their annual team awards for the 2015-16 season on March 18...Presentations will be made on-ice prior to the game against the CALGARY HITMEN.
FAN BUS: The KOOTENAY ICE FAN CLUB has organized a FAN BUS to see the ICE take on the CALGARY HITMEN March 20...Bus trip packages are $60.00 for FAN CLUB members and $70.00 for non-members and include transportation and tickets to the game...For more information, visit the FAN CLUB TABLE during upcoming home games or contact CAROLIN at 250-417-6593.
DID YOU KNOW: WYATT HOFLIN became the ICE franchise leader in career regular season saves February 26 versus EDMONTON...HOFLIN has recorded 4,230 career saves, surpassing NATHAN LIEUWEN (4,188)...ZAK ZBOROSKY led the ICE in FEBRUARY scoring with 18 points (5-13-18)...DALLAS HINES is currently on a four game point streak (1-3-4)...MATT ALFARO is two games shy of 200 career appearances...JESSE ZAHARICHUK is two games short of 100 career regular season appearances...ZAHARICHUK has put up multi-point efforts in each of his last two games (1-3-4)...AUSTIN WELLSBY is three appearances shy of 100 career games played...Former KOOTENAY Forward MATT FRASER was traded by the WINNIPEG JETS to the CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS on February 25...FRASER was assigned to the ROCKFORD ICEHOGS of the AMERICAN HOCKEY LEAGUE...Former ICE captain ADAM CRACKNELL was claimed on waivers by the EDMONTON OILERS from the VANCOUVER CANUCKS on February 29.
TRANSACTION / INJURIES: The ICE have recalled Forward REED MORISON (June 9, 1998) from the CALGARY CANUCKS of the ALBERTA JUNIOR HOCKEY LEAGUE...Forward RIVER BEATTIE will be out of the KOOTENAY lineup day to day with an illness...Forward AUSTIN GRAY will be out of the ICE lineup one week with an illness...Defenseman TROY MURRAY will be out of the KOOTENAY lineup one week with an upper body injury...Forward ROMAN DYMACEK will be out of the ICE lineup week to week with a lower body injury...Forward DYLAN STEWART will be out of the KOOTENAY lineup week to week with an upper body injury...Forward JAEDON DESCHENEAU will be out of the ICE lineup indefinitely with an upper body injury.
ONE YEAR AGO: After 62 games of the 2014-15 season the ICE were 32-27-1-2, after 63 games 33-27-1-2 and after 64 games 33-28-1-2.
