Owen Sound Attack News Release
The Owen Sound Attack currently sit 5th in the always tight Western Conference and will look to create some breathing room between themselves and the rest of the pack this weekend. The Attack managed to pick up 4 out of a possible 6 points last week, despite being bitten by the flu bug that is going around. The Attack, 92.3 The Dock and McArthur Tire will have a joint cheque presentation while announcing the final total for their Movember campaign.
Owen Sound Attack @ Barrie Colts - The Attack travel to Barrie on Thursday in search of their 11th straight victory over their Eastern Conference rivals. The Attack has won all three meetings this season against the Colts, but all games were very close with the Attack pulling out 2-1, 4-2 and 3-1 victories. Scott Stajcer has two of the victories over the Colts, while Jordan Binnington has the other.
Horse Race - The Colts boast some pretty good numbers when it comes to elite scorers in the OHL. The Colts have 5 players averaging a point per game or higher and have the Ontario Hockey League's leading scorer in Tanner Pearson who has amassed 60 points in only 28 games this season. Winnipeg Jets first rounder, Mark Scheifele isn't far behind having collected 30 points in only 17 games.
Look Out For - Ivan Telegin was brought over from the Saginaw Spirit to score goals and was expected to contribute early and often for the run and gun Colts. Despite his best efforts, Telegin had only scored 1 goal in his first 11 games in what was a disappointing start to the season. Since November 17th, the Russian sniper has tallied 8 goals and 4 assists in 8 games and was help pointless in only one game....a 3-2 loss to the Attack on November 30th.
Last 10 Games - Barrie: (7-3-0) 4th in Eastern Conf. Owen Sound: (6-2-1-1) 5th in Western Conf.
Guelph Storm @ Owen Sound Attack: Saturday, December 10th - The Owen Sound Attack square off against the Guelph Storm this Saturday at home for their fourth meeting of the season. The Attack is 2-1 against the Storm on the campaign, however; the road team has skated away with the victory after each contest this year, so the Attack will be looking to change the tide of the season series between the two divisional rivals.
Storm Season - The Storm currently sit 8th in the Western Conference, however; they have played only 28 games and sit only four points behind the 5th place Attack. '93 born forwards Zach Mitchell and Tanner Richards lead the Storm up front with 32 and 31 points respectively, while Garrett Sparks has carried the majority of the load in goal for Guelph.
Look Out For - Cody McNaughton can be a thorn in the side of any team. The 19 year old Petawawa native is on pace to set career highs in goals, assists, points and penalty minutes, not to mention his contributions that do not show up on the score sheet. His 2 goals and assist in the two teams first meeting of the year are the only points he has garnered, however; the spark plug McNaughton shows up to play every night.
Last 10 Games - Guelph Storm: (5-4-0-1) 8th in Western Conference
Tickets for Saturday evening's game can be purchased at the Attack Box Office in the front lobby of the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre, by calling (519) 371-7452 or online at www.attackhockey.com. Game time Saturday is 7:30pm.
