November 27, 2013 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Port Huron Fighting Falcons News Release

PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Fighting Falcons, proud members of the North American Hockey League, look to bounce back from their first two-game losing streak of the 2013-14 season when they host the Springfield Jr. Blues for "Retro Weekend" this Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m. at McMorran Arena.

Throughout the weekend series, the Fighting Falcons will wear throwback jerseys honoring the Port Huron Flags, who competed in the International Hockey League for 16 seasons primarily in the 1960s and 1970s, and then two seasons in the United Hockey League 2005-2007.

The first 500 fans at each game will receive a free poster featuring the Fighting Falcons in their throwback jerseys. Fans will have an opportunity to get the posters signed as the team will hold an autograph session on the ice after both of this weekend's games.

Former Flags stars like Jim Bannatyne, Larry Gould, Reid Bailey and others will attend Saturday's game, dropping the ceremonial first puck.

This weekend is the first matchup between the Fighting Falcons and the Jr. Blues this season. The Fighting Falcons are atop the North Division standings with a 15-3-5 record and 35 points. The Jr. Blues come into the weekend series with an overall record of 11-9-2, 11 points behind the Fighting Falcons with 24. Port Huron is 5-0-1 at McMorran Arena this season, while Springfield is 4-5-1 on the road.

Springfield swept Port Huron last season, winning each of four games played.

Zach Badalamenti, Vito Aluia and Bryan Yim earned two points apiece against the Jr. Blues last season, with Badalamenti's goal and assist coming in just two games.

Jack Sloan averaged a point per game against Port Huron last season, the highest mark among Jr. Blues returners.

The Fighting Falcons lost back-to-back games for the first time this season last weekend in Johnstown. Port Huron is 3-1-1 in their last five games, and have the fewest regulation losses (3) in the NAHL this season.

Springfield is 2-2-1 in their last five games following a home split with the Janesville Jets last weekend.

Tickets for this weekend's games are available at the McMorran Arena Box Office, starting at just $7 for students, seniors and military. The box office will close for Thanksgiving, but will be open 11-4 this Friday.

Saturday's game is the first of seven home games before the end of the year for the Fighting Falcons. Each home game represents an opportunity for fans to take home great prizes, including a $2,000 giveaway if attendance hits 2,000 for a Fighting Falcons home game.

The team will roll out a new take on chuck-a-puck this weekend, substituting the normal targets for the chance to win a cash prize. Instead of flat targets, fans will aim for a bucket at center ice. If a fan lands their puck in the bucket, they will take home all cash raised through chuck-a-puck that night. If more than one fan makes it, the prize will be split. If no pucks end up in the bucket, the prize rolls over to the next game!

The Fighting Falcons are taking pre-orders for the throwback jerseys the team will wear this weekend for just $100. As of Wednesday afternoon, 13 jerseys are still available, including all three Port Huron captains. Call the front office at (810) 966-3800 to reserve your jersey today.
