Brampton Steelheads News Release

MISSISSAUGA, ON - After a busy week with three games in four days, the Mississauga Steelheads came out of last weekend with a couple of big wins. Earning four out of a possible six points, the Steelheads were able to take down divisional-rival North Bay Battalion by a score of 4-3 and shut-out one of the top teams in the league, the Peterborough Petes, 3-0. Although losing a tough one to the Ottawa 67s, the Steelheads are still 8-2-0-0 in their last 10 games.

The club is looking to bounce back this weekend when they take on the Owen Sound Attack (6-5-0-1) at home on Friday before hitting the road on Sunday to face off against the Erie Otters (4-6-1-0). Amongst the top teams in the OHL, the Steelheads are right in the mix with the second best winning percentage and the third most points in the league.

The Attack are sitting just above .500 with a 6-5-0-1 record. After their slow start to the season, the Attack have been able to get a point in each of their last four games during a 3-0-0-1 stretch. In two contests against the Attack last year, the Steelheads were unsuccessful in taking them down, with an 0-2 record. The Steelheads look to end the Attack's streak with Friday's tilt in Mississauga.

Fans looking to take in Friday's contest can capitalize on two special offers:

Riding a three game win streak, the Erie Otters look to climb their way out of the bottom of their division. Prior to winning 33 consecutive, the Otters held a record of 0-6-1-0 in their previous 7 contests. In their first of four meetings this season, the Steelheads took the Otters down 6-1 and hope to improve to 2-0 against them this season when they head to Erie on Sunday.

Player to Watch - Mississauga Steelheads

Cole Schwindt - With 10 points in 12 games, Schwindt is quietly having himself a season to watch out for. With a steadily increasing role, the Steelheads sophomore has only gone four games without a point this season. Responsible at both ends of the ice, look for Schwindt to continue impressing throughout the season.

Player to Watch - Owen Sound Attack

Nick Suzuki - To nobody's surprise, the first round NHL draft pick is off to another amazing start to his season. Suzuki already has 16 points in just 10 games and is looking for back-to-back 100-point seasons. Eclipsing 40 goals in the last two years, Suzuki already has seven goals this season and is on pace to hit that 40 goal mark once again.

Player to Watch - Erie Otters

Kyle Maksimovich - Riding an eight-game point streak, Kyle Maksimovich is a big reason for the Otters three game win streak. With five points in those three games, Maksimovich is hoping to continue to stay hot and keep his team out of the basement in their division. In Erie's first contest this season against the Steelheads this season, Maksimovich had an assist on the Otters lone goal in a 6-1 loss.
