Niagara IceDogs News Release
The Niagara IceDogs won their annual Halloween game by a score of 3-0 against the Peterborough Petes, with first star Stephen Dhillon getting a shutout. Defenceman Elijah Roberts returned to the lineup after three games.
In the first period, Jake Uberti snagged the puck off a Petes player and forced a turnover. He found Jonah De Simone and they went in against Peterborough in the offensive zone on a 2 on 0. De Simone beat the goalie to score his first ever OHL goal! The assist gave Uberti his first ever OHL point.
It might have been a scoreless second period, but there was still a lot of action! The 'Dogs went on the offensive throughout, with a couple great scoring chances and some great saves by Stephen Dhillon coming towards the end.
The third period began a bit slow, but started to heat up with some great shots by the 'Dogs. Briefly after a 5-on-3, Bradey Johnson picked up a loose puck off a scramble in front of the net to score on the powerplay! His incredibly quick goal, a mere eight seconds after the faceoff, was assisted by Philip Tomasino and Liam Ham. In the last minute of play, after the Petes had pulled their goaltender, Ivan Lodnia scored the unassisted empty netter to end the game and give home fans attending the game a cheeseburger for a final score of 3-0.
After a road trip visiting both Michigan teams this weekend, the 'Dogs come back to town on Thursday November 1st, playing the first of a home and home against the Mississauga Steelheads.
