Huntsville Havoc News Release
The Huntsville Havoc moved closer to the top of the SPHL standing by winning all the games this past week. It took a shootout on Thursday night as the Havoc beat the Fayetteville FireAntz. Huntsville then took a pair from the Knoxville Ice Bears, 2-1 in overtime in Knoxville on Saturday and 5-1 in Huntsville on Sunday afternoon.
Thursday, February 23 - Fayetteville 2, Huntsville 3, SO
HUNTSVILLE, AL - Bill Monkman and Craig Bushey both scored in the shootout as the Huntsville Havoc scored a 3-2 win over the Fayetteville FireAntz Thursday night.
Matt Carmichael stopped all four shots that he faced in the shootout and stopped 36 shots overall to get the win. Chad Collins gave up two first period goals and finished with 37 saves.
Bushey got the Havoc on the board early just 1:34 into the game on a power play goal. Mike O'Sullivan scored in his first game in a Havoc uniform on a breakaway with 11:52 left in the first period.
Mike Fournier cut the lead to 2-1 with :31 left in the second period and Dean Jackson tied the game at 2-2 with :45 left in the game on a 6-on-4.
The Havoc killed off 13 power plays including four 5-on-3 opportunities, two in the third period.
Saturday, February 25 - Huntsville 2, Knoxville 1 OT
KNOXVILLE, TN - The Knoxville Ice Bears 19 game home winning streak was snapped by the Huntsville Havoc who have been the only team to beat Knoxville at home.
Jeff Dams tipped home the game-winning goal with 19 seconds remaining in overtime to lift the Huntsville Havoc to a 2-1 win over the Knoxville Ice Bears on Saturday night in Knoxville.
The Havoc exacted a measure of revenge after getting beat 7-2 in the building several weeks ago.
James Patterson tied the game up for the Havoc at 1-1 on a 5 on 3 power play in the third period after Mike Craigen tallied for Knoxville in the second period.
Matt Carmichael was outstanding stopping 48 of 49 stops and was equally sharp with Knoxville goaltender James Ronayne.
Sunday, February 26 - Knoxville 1, Huntsville 5
HUNTSVILLE, AL - Matt Carmichael made 23 saves and five different players scored as the Huntsville Havoc routed the Knoxville Ice Bears 5-1 Sunday afternoon.
Bill Monkman, Sean Edwards, Chris Peach, Jeff Dams and Mike O'Sullivan all found the back of the net for Huntsville. Curtis Menzul scored the lone Knoxville goal with 1:06 left in the game on a powerplay.
The Havoc outshot the Ice Bears 37-24 and converted on 2-of-6 powerplays and held the Ice Bears to 1-of-7.
Carmichael won for the third time this week and fourth time since coming off the injured reserve two weeks ago. He has a 1.20 goal against average in those four games.

It's a big three game road trip for the Huntsville Havoc as they look to extend their five game winning streak. On Thursday night the Havoc face the Pee Dee Cyclones in Florence, South Carolina. Havoc Game Night faces off at 6:15 pm followed by the action at 6:30. The road swing then moves on to Florida where the Havoc face the Florida Seals in a showdown for fourth place. The pre-game show Havoc Game Night will set the stage at 6:15 pm followed by the face-off at 6:30 pm. The Havoc will conclude things in Jacksonville, Florida to face the Barracudas on Saturday night beginning at 5:45 pm with the pre game show and then 6pm with the face-off. Please note that there will be full radio and internet coverage on Thursday and Friday nights, while Saturday's game will begin on the Internet and then join radio in progress following University of Alabama Basketball.
