BLUE BOMBERS – CLINCHED A PLAYOFF BERTH

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers defeated the Calgary Stampeders 35-20 at McMahon Stadium Friday night to clinch a playoff berth in the 2002 CFL post-season. This marked the third straight year that Dave Ritchie's Big Blue has qualified for the playoffs.

BLUE BOMBERS – 10 WINS – 26TH TIME

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers improved their record to 10-6 with the win over Calgary. The win represented the 26th time the club has totaled 10 or more wins in a season.

BLUE BOMBERS – "MEN IN WHITE" DEFEAT THE "MEN IN BLACK"

For years now, the Calgary Stampeders have trumpeted the record their team has posted wearing their special black jersey. Calgary had a perfect 6-0 record in the regular season wearing the jerseys until the Blue Bombers victory Friday.

DAVE RITCHIE – 10 WINS – SEVEN TIMES IN NINE YEARS

Dave Ritchie notched his 10th win of the season to reach the 10-win plateau for the 7th time in his nine-year CFL coaching career. DAVE RITCHIE – 4TH PLACE – WBB 10-WIN SEASONS (TIE)

Dave Ritchie reached 10 victories for the second time as head coach of the Blue Bombers. That total tied Ritchie with Bud Riley (1976 & 1977) and Mike Riley (1987 & 1990) for the 4th most seasons with 10 or more coaching wins. Here is the list:

BOB CAMERON – CFL ALL-TIME PUNTING YARDS LEADER

What more can be said about the legendary career of future hall of famer Bob Cameron? The Blue Bombers punter set yet another CFL record and this one was a biggie. Cameron surpassed Lui Passaglia for the most punting yards by an individual player in the history of the great Canadian game. The venerable Cameron reached 133,852 yards – 26 yards better than Passaglia's career total of 133,826. The time-honored Cameron – playing in his 23rd CFL campaign – set the record having made fewer punts than Passaglia and having played two fewer seasons than the former British Columbia Lions great.

BRIAN CLARK – 50TH WBB GAME

Defender Brian Clark has played some great football for Winnipeg since joining the team in 2000. Witness his performance against Calgary. Clark made four defensive tackles, two pass knockdowns and one forced fumble in the game, which was his 50th as a member of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

DAVE DONALDSON – 100TH CFL GAME

Dave Donaldson has had an interesting career. Playing the first three-and-a-half seasons as a receiver, "Double-D" made the switch to defensive back midway through the 2000 CFL season and has stayed there ever since. Donaldson, who had a lone tackle against Calgary, played in his 100th CFL contest Friday night.

TOM EUROPE – 13TH PLACE – CFL ALL-TIME DEFENSIVE TACKLES (TIE)

Winnipeg safety Tom Europe continues to make big hits and timely tackles. With two tackles against Calgary, Europe moved into a tie with Reggie Pleasant in CFL All-Time defensive tackles with 469.

KHARI JONES – 116.2 PASSER RATING

Chalk up another elite-level performance for Winnipeg quarterback Khari Jones. Jones completed 20 of 34 pass attempts for 311 yards, four touchdowns and one interception against Calgary to record a passer efficiency rating of 116.2. The 100-plus rating is Jones' 6th of the 2002 CFL season and the 16th of his Blue Bombers career.

KHARI JONES – FOUR TOUCHDOWN PASSES

My, oh my, this has been a great season for quarterback Khari Jones. The Cal-Davis grad threw four touchdown passes to lead his Blue Bombers squad to victory over the Calgary Stampeders. Jones now has 44 touchdown passes on the season and, more importantly, has lead the Blue Bombers to five wins in their past six games.

In fact, Flutie is the only CFL player to have ever performed better than Jones when it comes to TD passes. Jones needs four more touchdown tosses to equal the league record of 48, also held by Flutie. The Top-5 list follows:

KHARI JONES – 3RD PLACE – WBB CAREER TOUCHDOWNS

Khari Jones passed not one, but two Blue Bomber greats in career touchdown passes Friday night. First off, Jones moved ahead of Tom Clements into 4th place on the football club's list with his second TD throw of the night. Then two TD passes later, Jones surpassed the career total of Canadian Football Hall of Fame member Jack Jacobs to take sole possession of 3rd place in the Winnipeg record books. Jones now has 105 career touchdown passes.

CHARLES ROBERTS – 5TH 100-YARD GAME OF THE SEASON
