Week 15 Preview: Cobras vs. Steelhawks

July 10, 2018 - National Arena League (NAL)
Carolina Cobras News Release

GREENSBORO - The Carolina Cobras (7-4) are back in action following their final bye week of the season, taking on the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks (0-11) at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina, this Saturday, July 14. The Cobras are looking to clinch the final playoff berth this Saturday, needing only one win in their final four games to do so.

In the Cobra's and Steelhawk's previous two meetings, the Cobras came out victorious, winning their first ever match-up 65-3 in Greensboro, and their second one 58-38 in Allentown. This will be the third time the two teams meet, with a fourth meeting coming on July 28 in Allentown.

The key to this game for the Cobras is to get out of the gates fast. In their last two games, the Cobras fell behind 24-0 to Maine and 20-0 to Columbus, both of which were losses. In the Cobras last meeting with the Steelhawks, Carolina outscored the Steelhawks 21-0 in the first quarter of the game, but was outscored by one point in the remaining three quarters. If it wasn't for the Cobra's explosive first quarter in that game, the outcome may have been entirely different. The Cobras also benefit with the re-addition of defensive back Mike Green, who has missed the past game-and-a-half due to a rib injury.

If the Steelhawks can keep this game close from start to finish, they may have a shot at winning. But if they let it get out of hand not long into the game, they will have an extremely tough time regaining their composure and coming back.

The game will kickoff this Saturday, July 14, 2018, at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina, at 7:00 E.T. with doors opening at 6:00 E.T.
