PORTLAND - The Maine Mammoths (3-7) host the number one Columbus Lions (8-3) in a game that could determine whether the Mammoths earn a ticket to the playoffs or not. The Mammoths have faced the Lions a total of one time this season, this being their second. The Mammoths have currently won their last two matchups at home against the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks on June 16, and their most recent victory over the Carolina Cobras on June 30th.

The first time the Mammoths faced the Lions was in Columbus, Georgia when the Lions controlled the game and finished with a 55-34 score. Mammoths Quarterback Jonathan Bane was injured and did not play that game, which put Kenyatte Allen in at starting quarterback. He was 17-of-29 for 143 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions. Wide Receiver Devin Wilson caught seven passes for 75 yards and one touchdown. Edgar Poe Jr. had six receptions for 30 yards and one touchdown.

This game isn't all or nothing with the playoffs. They are currently four games behind the Carolina Cobras, which is the only team that hasn't clinched the playoffs. The Mammoths have four games remaining this season. This means that the Mammoths have to win every remaining game this season and the Cobras have to lose every one of their remaining games this season. If the Cobras win one more game, even if the Mammoths win the same week, the Mammoths are out.

The Mammoths defeated the Carolina Cobras, who was the number one team at the time, two weeks ago with a dominating 55-29 score. Jonathan Bane was 26-of-41 for 210 yards, six touchdowns and zero interceptions. The entire Mammoths offense was completely in sync, as Wide Receiver Rob Brown reeled in 13 catches for 96 yards and one touchdown, which is the most receptions a receiver has ever had in a single game for the Mammoths. Devin Wilson caught seven passes for 68 yards and three touchdowns. Edgar Poe Jr. had five receptions for 36 yards and two touchdowns.

Saturday's game will be shown on YouTube Live and will be posted on the team's social media pages. That will provide all the information on how to watch the game live on your phone or your computer.

The next Mammoths game is on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 7:00 pm (ET) at the Cross-Insurance Arena as they host the winless Lehigh Valley Steelhawks (0-11) for Star Wars Night.
