Wilmington Blue Rocks News Release
Wilmington, DE - A second saturation of downpour over the last week has made for unplayable field conditions at Daniel S. Frawley Stadium. Consequently, Wednesday night's scheduled series opener between the Wilmington Blue Rocks (44-45, 12-7) and the Frederick Keys (51-37, 10-8) has been postponed. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Thursday evening at 5:05 p.m. This marks the fourth rainout of the season for the Blue Crew and its third at home.
Both teams' scheduled starters will stay in line. In the opener, Wilmington southpaw Buddy Baumann (2-1, 2.35) will face right-hander Ryan O'Shea (5-4, 3.50). The nightcap will pit lefty John Lamb (5-2, 1.41) versus righty Ryan Berry (2-0, 2.25). Both contests will be scheduled for seven innings.
PEBBLES OF KNOWLEDGE:
Earlier in the day, the Kansas City Royals announced the promotion of former Wilmington third baseman Mike Moustakas (2009) to Triple-A Omaha from Double-A Northwest Arkansas. In 66 games this season for the Naturals, Moustakas hit .347 with 21 homers and 76 RBIs, pacing the league in those Triple Crown categories. He was an All-Star in the Texas League and selected to the MLB All-Star Futures Game this season. Last year, he took Carolina League All-Star honors and hit more home runs than any Blue Rock in a decade (16).
