Niagara IceDogs News Release

Hi IceDog Fans,

Over this nerve wracking time, I've asked all of you to contact city council stating your support for this new spectator facility. Denise and I felt the least we could do was the same. Although we feel strongly that your letters will hold more clout than ours, we were passionate that we wanted to let council know that we are more than just "Your Niagara IceDogs", but also a viable business, striving each and every day to be a valuable part of this community. So below is our contribution to what has hopefully been an onslaught of support letters to council prior to this very important meeting. We wanted to share it with you, so you too would know how we've entrenched ourselves in the community.

With only 3 days until the vote, if you haven't sent an email, please, please, please send it this weekend.

For those who already have, THANK-YOU!

See you Monday night,

Bill and Denise.

Subject: We are more than just a hockey team!

Dear Mayor and Council,

As we get closer to Monday's vote, we wanted to thank you for embracing us for the past 5 years.

I think the email below, that was sent to Colin with our financials after year 3, shows we have also embraced St. Catharines.

We're not just a hockey team, but a small business that is contributing to the economy here in St. Catharines.

Since year 3, Marty, our coach has moved here, as have his parents and Denise's parents. Our Staff and team have purchased another 11 vehicles. Not to mention that we've also built a house using all local trades.

It should also be noted, that Denise and I, although we work every day with the IceDogs, do not get paid and are not part of the $1,000,000 in annual wages.

So when you're crunching the numbers please don't forget that we are not just another hockey team looking to find a new home. We are (or at least trying to be) a thriving business contributing to this community not only financially, but with a wealth of time and product attending community functions, fundraisers, charities, hospitals, schools, and minor hockey groups alike.

Thank you for everything. We hope more anything that our two sons will marry and raise our grand children here over a new 20 year lease!

Our best always,

Bill and Denise Burke
