Milwaukee Wave News Release

(Milwaukee, WI) The Milwaukee Wave, a member of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) announced today that it has signed veteran defender Pat White to a two-year contract extension beginning with the current 2004-05 season. The Wave also announced that it has signed rookie midfielders Nino Marcantonio and Jonathan Greenfield to two-year deals starting with the upcoming campaign.

The 30-year old White, a Milwaukee native who starred at Pius XI High School and UW-Parkside, is set to begin his 10th season in a Wave uniform. Only teammate Michael King (now in his 12th season) and former teammate Victor Nogueira (11 seasons) have had longer tenures with the Wave.

The 5-10, 175lb. White began his career as a forward but has played almost exclusively on the back line the past five seasons. He tallied one goal and four assists for five points with 45 blocks in 31 regular season appearances in 2003-04. He also recorded one goal and eight blocks in four playoff games. White also tops the club's all-time regular season list in blocks with 402 and is third in games played with 332.

"Pat has been an extremely valuable part of the team for many years and its important to keep him as part of our defensive core," said Wave Head Coach / Milwaukee Vice President of Soccer Operations Keith Tozer. "He's been an indispensable member of our organization, both on and off the field and its great to have him back for at least two more years."

Marcantonio and Greenfield are first year midfielders who should both see immediate playing time. Marcantonio is a 23-year old native of Lucera, Italy who played college ball at American University and the University of Maryland. The 5-9, 160lb. Bethesda, MD resident made his professional debut with the Wave United outdoor team this past summer, recording one goal and two assists for four points in 24 appearances (15 starts).

The 22-year old Greenfield will be making his North American professional debut for Milwaukee after three years with Sundowns F.C. of the South African Premier League. The 6-0, 170 lb. Cape Town, SA native is also a member of the South African (U-23) Olympic Team.

Said Tozer, "Nino has all the tools to be one of the next young stars in the MISL; now it's wait and see. As for Jonathan, he's a smooth midfielder with a great touch who should be an excellent addition to our midfield rotation."

The Wave opens the 2004-05 regular season tomorrow night (10/23, 7 PM) when it takes on the Chicago Storm in the Storm's first-ever MISL contest at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, IL. Air time for the radio broadcast on 540 AM, WRRD ("The Word) is 6:45 PM.

Milwaukee's home opener is slated for Friday, October 29, 7:05 PM when the Wave hosts the Storm at U.S. Cellular Arena featuring a post-game concert by the popular local group "The Love Monkeys."
