MISL Terminates Management Agreement with Monterrey Fury
October 22, 2004 - Major Indoor Soccer League 2 (MISL 2) News Release
Westport, Conn. (Friday, October 22, 2004) â Following an emergency session of the MISL Management Committee on Thursday, October 21, 2004, the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) announced today that the Management Committee, by a supermajority vote, has authorized and directed the MISL Commissioner, Steve Ryan, to terminate the Management Agreement between Americas Entertainment Management S.A. de C.V., the operator of the MISL Monterrey Fury team, and the MISL. Americas Entertainment Management S.A. de C.V. has been repeatedly advised that they have not been in compliance with multiple terms of the Management Agreement and that the agreement has been terminated, effective immediately. This termination decision was precipitated by a long series of noncompliance and disregard for the obligations and responsibilities of an MISL member club. Further, this termination decision follows prior notice of termination and failed commitments on behalf of the Monterrey Fury to abate such termination of the management agreement.
The Monterrey Fury's 40-game schedule for the 2004-05 MISL season has been cancelled. The League is reviewing the impact this decision will have on its entire game schedule and is currently exploring all options at its disposal.
The MISL remains committed to the passionate soccer fans of Monterrey and appreciates their enthusiasm, loyalty, and support. The League will continue to work with community leaders and potential investor/operators to return the Major Indoor Soccer League to Monterrey as quickly as possible.
