Milwaukee Wave News Release

MILWAUKEE, WI (March 29, 2006) - On Sunday, the Wave closed out the home portion of the 2005-06 regular season with a record crowd of 8,771. The attendance for the matinee against the St. Louis Steamers was the largest group ever to see the Wave at the U.S. Cellular Arena.

The game was the culmination of season-long improvements in attendance for the Wave. The 2005-06 campaign saw an increase of 30 percent in attendance from the previous season.

Group sales have been crucial in the team's turnaround at the gates. "In the year that I've been with the Wave, we've made group sales a focal point of our sales efforts," said Jennifer Gryniewicz, Vice President of Tickets Sales with the Wave. "In that time we've seen drastic improvements in both attendance and revenue culminating with our group sales figures doubling in just one year."

Heading into the playoffs looking for the franchise's fifth championship, the Wave hopes to build on the momentum gained throughout the season. Milwaukee will play their first playoff match against Baltimore on either April 21 or 23, depending upon the seeding.

"We've had a terrific year both on and off the field," Milwaukee Wave Chief Operating Officer, Mike Lafferty said. "We have a great team, affordable prices and tremendous community involvement. People around Milwaukee have taken note of our efforts and it has been a boost to our franchise. The continued support of the community will be crucial in our efforts to bring another championship to Milwaukee."

Milwaukee faces back-to-back road games on Friday and Saturday. They'll face their border rivals, the Chicago Storm, at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and then move on to St. Louis to battle the first place Steamers at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. All Wave games are broadcast on The Joy, 1340 AM and can be heard via webcast at www.MilwaukeeWave.com. Tickets for all Wave home games ($12, $14, $16, and $20) can be purchased by calling 414-224-WAVE. Wave tickets are also available at Ticketmaster outlets and www.ticketmaster.com. Groups of 10 or more should contact the Wave Office for group rate discounts.

The Milwaukee Wave was established in 1984 as one of six charter members of the American Indoor Soccer Association (AISA). In 2001, the Wave transitioned to being a successful member of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL). Through the guidance of head coach Keith Tozer, the winningest coach in Wave and North American indoor soccer history, the Wave has won four league titles (1997-98, 1999-00, 2000-01, 2004-05), seven regular season championships, and has made seven championship series appearances.
