St. Louis Steamers News Release

ST. LOUIS - The Savvis Center will host its first playoff game on April 22nd beginning at 7:05 p.m. when the St. Louis Steamers take on a yet to be determined opponent in the first round of the 2006 MISL Championship Series. The Steamers have clinched home field advantage throughout the post-season and will be the number one seed thanks to last Sunday's 7-6 win over the Milwaukee Wave at Milwaukee's U.S. Cellular Arena. So far this season, St. Louis is a perfect 12-0 at Savvis.

The opponent St. Louis will take on is yet to be determined thanks to a close battle between the Chicago Storm, the expansion California Cougars and the Philadelphia KiXX. Going into this weekend's games, Chicago leads California by two games and Philadelphia by three games. The Storm has four games remaining with two coming this weekend.

The Steamers reached the post-season last year but were defeated by the eventual MISL Champions, Milwaukee Wave in two games. This season, the Steamers have made Savvis Center the toughest place to play in the MISL by putting up a perfect 12-0 record coming into the weekend. No other team in the league can boast that statement. The Steamers will show off their home field advantage on Saturday, April 22nd at 7:05 p.m.
