San Diego Wave FC News Release
SAN DIEGO, Calif. - San Diego Wave Fútbol Club has signed forward Jackie Altschuld to its 2022 NWSL roster. After joining San Diego Wave FC as a National Team Replacement in July 2022, Altschuld has earned a contract with the club for the remainder of the season.
"It's honestly a dream come true. To be in this environment has been absolutely amazing. I couldn't have gotten here without my teammates and everyone on the coaching staff. Everyone has pushed and challenged me to become a better player everyday and I'm just excited to do whatever it takes to help the team achieve our goal."
Jackie Altschuld, San Diego Wave FC Forward
Altschuld graduated from the University of San Diego where she was named to NSCAA All-West Region Third Team and 1st team All-WCC in her 2016 senior campaign. The forward joined San Diego Wave FC after competing for UMF Tindastóll in Iceland where she played 17 matches in three seasons and scored one goal.
As a National Team Replacement Player, Altschuld appeared in one match for Wave FC.
"Jackie has been in our environment for a few months now and has worked hard with an incredible mentality and is very deserving of being added to our roster."
Casey Stoney, San Diego Wave FC Head Coach
Altschuld joins the squad ahead of this weekend's road match against the Portland Thorns on Saturday, August 27, in a top-of-the-table clash, before continuing on the road against the Washington Spirit on Saturday, Sept. 10.
After much anticipation and excitement, the club then returns home for its historic opener at Snapdragon stadium on Saturday, Sept. 17 with single-game tickets going fast. Announced on Tuesday, San Diego Wave FC has officially sold more tickets than the NWSL attendance record for a single game with over 27,000 tickets sold for September 17. With less than a month until the historic home opener against Angel City FC, the club now sets its sights on shattering the record with a complete sell out of Snapdragon stadium.
