Watson Leads G League Elite in Scoring in Four-Game Tourney

WHITE PLAINS, NY - Paul Watson of the Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, led the NBA G League Elite Team in scoring through the four-game NBA G League International Challenge which took place Wednesday, September 18 - Sunday, September 22, 2019.

The exhibition tournament in Montevideo, Uruguay wrapped up with FC Bayern Munich taking home the championship with a 93-84 victory over the NBA G League Elite in the finals.

Watson led the team in scoring with 14.3 points per game on 48.7-percent shooting. He shot 43.8-percent from downtown while also adding 4.5 rebounds and 0.5 assists starting each contest for the group.

"The event was a great experience," Watson began. "I'm very blessed to have had the opportunity to play the game and experience a new culture and great country."

The event included five other teams along with the NBA G League Elite, including FC Bayern Munich (Germany), San Lorenzo (Argentina), Flamengo (Brazil), Capitanes de Ciudad de Mexico (Mexico) and the Uruguay Elite Team (Uruguay).

The NBA G League Elite was comprised of nine other former NBA G League players including Watson.

Watson played in all 50 of the 2018-19 Westchester Knicks regular season games, starting 42 of them. He logged the most minutes of any Knicks player this season. Scoring 8.2 points per game, Watson shot the ball at 43.8-percent from the field and 34.5-percent from downtown.

The Westchester Knicks retain Watson's returning rights for the 2019-20 season.
