Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

Four different Black Hawks scored two goals each as Waterloo rallied for an improbable 8-6 win on the road against the Lincoln Stars Tuesday.

Midway through the second period, the Hawks trailed 6-2, but scored six unanswered goals as part of the comeback. J.T. Brown started the turnaround with a marker at 11:09 of the second period, flipping the puck into an open net off a feed from Patrick Divjak.

Waterloo really went to work in the third. Former Star Jon Puskar redirected a Nick Ebert shot into the net on a power play at 1:53. Less than two minutes later, Montpetit stuffed in a rebound opportunity to bring Waterloo back within one. At 11:01, Puskar tied it when an errant pass came to him for a shot on a rush up ice. Montpetit put the Hawks in front with the game-winner, coming from behind the net to jam in a goal during a power play at 13:52. Brown added an empty-netter in the final minute to seal the win.

Lincoln had notched two in the first period from Austin Handley and Sam Alfieri. They piled on four power play goals in less than ten minutes after play restarted following intermission. Jarrod Mermis, Kyle Gibbons, Ryan Dzingel, and Andrew Ammon turned over new numbers on the scoreboard. Mixed in were a pair of goals by Tyler Barnes at 51 seconds and on a power play at 5:34, both on deflections.

The Hawks return home for games against the Green Bay Gamblers and Team USA Friday and Saturday at 7:05. Giveaways from iWireless, Hy-Vee, and Waterloo Golf Headquarters highlight the weekend, along with $7 tickets for all UAW Local 838 members.
