
Washington Takes Second Victory against Richmond

Washington, PA - The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, defeated the Richmond Roosters (2-3) in the second game of a three game series. The final score was 6-5 and this win improved the Wild Things record to 3-2.
Richmond scored the first run in the first inning when Phil Willingham hit a homerun. Washington remained scoreless until the third inning when Josh Loggins hit a homerun over the left field fence evening the score to 1-1. Zach Cates gave the team another run when he hit a homerun to right field.
Richmond brought in another run in the sixth inning when Phil Willingham hit a double to right field sending in Pete Pirman in from second base. Washington answers back when Jay Coakley answered with a homerun to left center. Cates also scored another run when Richmond's shortstop Josh Hollingsworth made a throwing error at first. Jake Bollig scored the third run in the sixth inning when he scored off of Justin Woodrow's single.
Richmond answered in the seventh when Damon Burkhart hit a two run homerun to left field. Washington improved the score again when Doug Garcia was driven in by Jay Coakley's single, widening the score to 4-6. The final run of the game was made by Richmond when pinch hitter Rory Thornton drove Pirman home in the ninth
The Washington Wild Things play the Richmond Roosters again on Friday at 7:05 at Falconi Field.
