In front of a crowd of 3,912 fans on elementary school day, May 29, 2003, at Homer Stryker field the Kalamazoo Kings defeated the Florence Freedom 2-0.
David McWatters pitched outstanding going 8 1/3 innings to get his first win of the year. Greg Wilshire came in as relief to get his 3rd save of the year. All the runs came in the bottom of the second inning after Matt Kent and Steve Hindman both led off with singles. After a wild pitch to move up the runners, Jim Tully grounded out to first to score Kent. Hindman then scored on another wild pitch by pitcher Nate Zettler. Zettler took the loss for the Freedom.
The Kings will resume play tomorrow, May 30th, 2003, against the Florence Freedom on Meijer Fireworks night.
