Washington Spirit News Release
Washington, D.C. - The Washington Spirit has signed forward Audrey Harding to the active roster as a short-term injury replacement, the club announced today.
The northeast Ohio native earned First Team All-CAA honors in each of her final two seasons at UNC-Wilmington and Second Team honors in 2019. Harding scored 23 goals and had 20 assists in her five seasons in Wilmington, seeing playing time in 68 matches, 35 of which were starts. Harding's 2021 season proved to be her best statistically, with eight goals and seven assists in 13 starts and the most minutes played of her college career.
Harding, the 38th overall selection out of UNC-Wilmington in last December's NWSL draft, will act as a short-term replacement for the injured Gaby Vincent. Vincent has been out with a calf injury and will be put on the 45-day disabled list.
The Washington Spirit will host OL Reign in the team's 2022 season opener on Sunday, May 1 at Audi Field in Washington, D.C. As the first regular season game since the 2021 squad won the NWSL championship, Sunday's match will double as a celebration of last year's campaign with Spirit supporters.
