Washington Spirit Release 38-Player Preseason Roster

Washington, D.C. - The Washington Spirit has announced an initial 38-player roster as the 2022 NWSL Preseason officially begins today.

The Spirit will return to action when the NWSL Challenge Cup returns on March 19. More information about exact dates and times for the Spirit's matches will be provided once they become available.

Seven members of the roster have recent United States Women's National Team experience, with forwards Ashley Hatch and Trinity Rodman, midfielders Ashley Sanchez and Andi Sullivan, defenders Kelley O'Hara and Emily Sonnett, and goalkeeper Aubrey Bledsoe returning from the most recent camp.

The Spirit roster has four 2022 NWSL Draft picks on the roster. The players were selected with picks ranging from the No. 14 overall pick to No. 50. Tinaya Alexander (LSU) was selected with the No. 14 pick, Lucy Shepherd (Hofstra) at No. 23, Audrey Harding (UNCW) at No. 38 and Jordan Thompson (Gonzaga) with the No. 50 overall pick. Maddie Elwell, the No. 15 overall pick, will not be in camp for preseason as she has returned to Vanderbilt for the spring semester.

During the offseason, Aubrey Kingsbury (neé Bledsoe) and Jordan Baggett (neé DiBiasi) celebrated weddings and will now wear new names on their jerseys this season.
