
Washington Spirit Re-Sign Forwards Tiffany Weimer and Caroline Miller

BOYDS, Md. (Nov. 14, 2014) - The Washington Spirit announced today the club has re-signed forwards Tiffany Weimer and Caroline Miller. Per team and league policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.
Weimer, 30, missed the 2014 season with an ACL injury in her left knee. The Penn State alum was acquired by the Spirit via a trade with Portland Thorns FC at the 2014 NWSL College Draft. A Bridgeport, Conn. native, Weimer made 10 appearances with Portland in 2013 after joining them mid-season. She also scored a key goal for Thorns FC in the 2013 NWSL Semifinals.
Prior to coming to the NWSL, Weimer played for Danish club Fortuna Hjorring, scoring a team-high 11 goals and leading the team to the Round of 16 in the 2012/13 UEFA Women's Champions League.
Miller, 22, was drafted by the Spirit in the second round (10^th overall) of the 2013 NWSL College Draft. The Rockville, Md. native made one start in seven appearances in 2013 before missing the rest of the season due to a right ankle injury. Miller re-injured her ankle in early 2014 and was forced to miss the 2014 season, as well.
Miller was a standout at the University of Virginia during her four years with the Cavaliers, finishing her career as the second-highest goal scorer in program history with 45 goals. The 2012 ACC Offensive Player of the Year, she also set a school record with 20 goals in a single season.
