Reign FC Signs One, Re-Signs Pair

November 14, 2014 - National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) - Reign FC News Release

SEATTLE (November 14, 2014) - Seattle Reign FC announced today that the club has signed defender Michelle Cruz and re-signed midfielder Mariah Nogueira and forward Amanda Frisbie. Per team and league policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Cruz, 22, is currently with Apollon Limassol F.C. in the Cypriot First Division, where she plays alongside Seattle goalkeeper Haley Kopmeyer. Cruz made five appearances in Apollon's recent UEFA Women's Champions League campaign before being eliminated in the tournament's Round of 32. Cruz will join Reign FC prior to the start of the 2015 NWSL season.

"Michelle was someone we looked at towards the end of last season and felt could benefit our group," Reign FC general manager and head coach Laura Harvey said. "Having gained experience playing overseas, we are pleased she has decided to come to the NWSL."

The Thousand Oaks, Calif. native played her collegiate career at the University of Portland, appearing in 54 games and tallying six goals and nine assists. In 2012, she was named to the NSCAA All-West Region Second Team and the All-WCC Second Team.

Nogueira, 23, made six starts in 15 appearances for Reign FC in 2014, recording one assist in 588 minutes. A native of Westminster, Calif., Nogueira was acquired by Reign FC prior to the 2014 season in a trade with the Boston Breakers. She registered three goals and one assist in 1,408 minutes as part of the Breakers in 2013.

"Mariah was a big part of our successes last season," Harvey added. "We are really pleased that she has committed back to the club."

Frisbie, 22, was selected in the first round (No. 7 overall) of the 2014 NWSL College Draft by Reign FC. The University of Portland graduate suffered a season-ending leg injury during Reign FC's 2014 preseason. A native of McKinney, Texas, Frisbie was a NSCAA First Team All-American and MAC-Hermann Trophy semifinalist in her senior year of college.

"We feel that after Amanda's injuries last season, we gain our first round pick again this year, and with added experience and exposure we believe that Amanda has a bright future." Harvey said.

Season ticket packages for Seattle's 2015 season start at just $195. Fans looking to purchase tickets can call (855) REIGN-FC or visit today.
