
Washington Spirit Defender Karina Rodriguez Earns Call-Up to Mexican National Team

Washington, D.C. - Karina Rodriguez has once again been called up to the Mexico women's national football team, the organization announced today. Rodriguez was recently called up to the national team in April.
To begin the summer FIFA window, Mexico will take on Peru twice in international friendly contests on Saturday, June 25 and Tuesday, June 28 in Torreón. Following the friendlies, Mexico will then head to Monterrey to play Jamaica, Haiti and the United States in group play of the CONCACAF Women's Championship beginning on Monday, July 4. Should the side advance to the knockout stage of the competition, the semifinals will take place on Thursday, July 14 with the third place and championship matches taking place on Monday, July 18.
Originally from Torrance, California, Rodriguez attended UCLA and played four seasons with the Bruins before signing with the Spirit in June 2021. As a senior at UCLA, Rodriguez earned First Team All-Pac-12 and All-Region nods. Prior to joining the Mexican national team, Rodriguez competed for several United States youth national teams.
