
Seven Spirit Players Called up to USWNT for Summer Window

Washington, D.C. - The Washington Spirit will send seven players up to the U.S. Women's National Team (USWNT) later this month for the June friendlies against Colombia and the CONCACAF Women's Championship, U.S. Soccer announced today.
Among the call-ups are forward Ashley Hatch, goalkeeper Aubrey Kingsbury, defender Kelley O'Hara, forward Trinity Rodman, forward Ashley Sanchez, defender Emily Sonnett and midfielder Andi Sullivan. O'Hara leads the group with 152 appearances in international competition, followed by Sonnett with 65 and Sullivan with 27. Despite having only played in eight international matches thus far, Hatch has scored four goals for the USWNT, the most of any active Spirit player. With seven of the 23 call-ups coming from the defending NWSL champions, Spirit players will make up over 30% of the USWNT roster this summer.
The USWNT will first take on Colombia in two international friendly competitions on Saturday, June 25 in Commerce City, Colorado and Tuesday, June 28 in Sandy, Utah. Following the friendlies, the team will travel to Monterrey, Mexico for the duration of the CONCACAF Women's Championship. Having been drawn into Group A, the USWNT will play Haiti on Monday, July 4, Jamaica on Thursday, July 7 and Mexico on Monday, July 11 in group play. Should the side advance to the knockout stage of the competition, the semifinals will take place on Thursday, July 14 with the third place and championship matches taking place on Monday, July 18.
During the summer international window, the Spirit will play three matches shorthanded. Washington will travel to southern California to play San Diego Wave FC on Sunday, July 3 before hosting the Kansas City Current at Segra Field on Sunday, July 10 and the Orlando Pride at Audi Field on Sunday, July 17.
