BOYDS, MD. (Mar. 20, 2015) - The Washington Spirit will face Virginia Tech on Saturday March 21st at 4PM at the Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart in Bethesda, Maryland. The team wrapped up its second week of preseason on Friday, which was the first week of training for new forward Laura del Rio.
Virginia Tech is the first of three Atlantic Coast Conference teams the Spirit will face during preseason. Virginia Tech finished the 2014 season with an impressive 16-6 in the highly competitive ACC. The Hokies earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament, but went out in the Round of 16 to Penn State.
"Virginia Tech is a strong, fast, hard working team that will give us a great game," said Spirit general manager and head coach Mark Parsons. "I am a huge fan of Chugger (Coach Adair). This is a great opportunity for us to demonstrate understanding of tactical work we have done so far in preseason as well as see how players are progressing."
