Morristown, N.J. (Friday, March 19, 2015) - Sky Blue FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) continues its 2015 Preview Series Presented by Meridian Health this Saturday, hosting the University of North Carolina for a 3:00 match at Mercer County Community College in West Windsor. Additionally, the team announced today that former U.S. Women's National Team defender Jennifer Grubb has been added to its preseason roster.

"UNC always presents a good challenge for us," said Jim Gabarra, Sky Blue FC Technical Director & Head Coach. "This match is really about new players figuring out how we want them to play. The objective is always to win, but we have a lot of mistakes to make and a lot of lessons to learn. It is great to get this level of competition in the preseason to see how players work together and in the structure of our system."

Admission into the game against North Carolina will be $10 per person, but all 2015 Sky Blue FC season ticket holders will get into the match for free. Pre-game activities will get underway at 1:30 p.m. The match will be the second contest of the preseason for Sky Blue FC after the team opened its slate last weekend by defeating St. John's University in Scotch Plains, 3-0.

Eligible for action on Saturday will be former U.S. Women's National Team defender Jennifer Grubb, who reunites with Gabarra after playing for him with the Washington Freedom from 2001-2003 in the Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA). Together, they went to consecutive WUSA Championship Games from 2002-03, winning the league crown in 2003. Grubb, 36, was the only player to log every minute of every single match over the WUSA's three seasons of operation, and she last suited up professionally in 2010 for Sky Blue FC.

Collegiately, Grubb excelled at the University of Notre Dame, where the Illinois native was one of only five defenders in Division 1 women's soccer history to earn NSCAA All-American accolades following all four seasons in college. The two-time NCAA Player of the Year finalist has made a successful transition to coaching as well, serving seven years as head coach of the varsity girls' soccer team at Peddie High School in Heightstown, NJ, before joining the staff of former Sky Blue FC head coach Rick Stainton at Seton Hall University this past fall.

Sky Blue FC will open the NWSL regular season on the road when it travels to FC Kansas City on Sunday, April 12th. The team will play its home opener at Yurcak Field (Rutgers, Piscataway) on Saturday, April 18th, at 7:00 p.m., and tickets for that match are on sale now. Season tickets are also available (10 home matches), with packages starting as low as $120. Make sure you catch all of the world class NWSL action this season at Yurcak Field by calling 888-SBFC-TIX (888-723-2849)!
