Washington Spirit News Release
Washington, D.C. - The Washington Spirit and CVS Health announced today a continued sponsorship for the 2023 National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) season. As the official health and wellness partner of the club, CVS Health will appear on the front of home and away kits as well as support community programs that foster opportunities for women and girls to play - and stay - in sports.
"We put the health and well-being of our players front and center. A commitment from CVS Health as the club's health and wellness partner reinforces those values," said Emma May, President of Business Operations for the Washington Spirit. "Together we will demonstrate the power of investing in women and female athletes at all levels."
The Spirit unveiled earlier this month dynamic new all-black home kits with a chrome crest and white CVS Health logo. On the road, the Spirit will wear white tops with a chrome crest and black partner logos and either white or black shorts. The partnership includes the CVS Health logo on all replica jerseys available in the Washington Spirit Shop and will also appear on player avatars in EA Sports FIFA23 inaugural NWSL integration.
"Female participation in sports has lifelong advantages for both physical and mental well-being1," said Joanne Armstrong, M.D., M.P.H., Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for Women's Health and Genomics for CVS Health. "Our collaboration with the Spirit will help increase access to healthy activities with a particular focus on underrepresented members of the community."
CVS Health is committed to allyship and access for women. In October 2022, the company announced the HERe, Healthier Happens Together platform which launched with several bold actions related to product pricing and tax absorption on menstrual products, as well as providing women with greater access to affordable, accessible health care services.
The new agreement marks the fourth year of sponsorship, throughout which CVS Health and the Spirit have been rooted in community engagement and delivering meaningful impact. The organizations will collaborate to develop programs and initiatives that positively impact women and girls in the greater Washington, D.C. region.
