WASHINGTON D.C. - Washington Mystics players Matee Ajavon, Karima Christmas, Victoria Dunlap and Crystal Langhorne along with Summer Crew members of Casey Trees will participate in WNBA Green Week by watering and mulching newly planted trees. These trees have been in the ground less than three years and with the Mystics' help, they will be able to grow to their fullest potential and help keep Washington, D.C., clean and beautiful.

Casey Trees is a Washington, D.C.-based non-profit established in 2002 committed to restoring, enhancing and protecting the tree canopy of the nation's capital. To fulfill this mission Casey Trees plants trees, engages thousands of volunteers of all ages in tree planting and care, provides year-round continuing education courses, monitors the city's tree canopy, develops interactive online tree tools and works with elected officials, developers, community groups to protect and care for existing trees and to encourage them to add new ones.

WNBA Green, in partnership with the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), is a league-wide program that generates awareness and funds for protecting the environment and promoting sustainable practices. Through WNBA Green, the league, its teams and players are taking steps to be more environmentally friendly and encourage fans to get involved in local greening initiatives. During WNBA Green Week, the league and teams will join together to take part in green efforts including hands-on community service projects, recycling programs, green giveaways, auctions to support environmental organizations and promotions to encourage fans to "go green."
