Washington leads Toros to victory

In a rematch of Austin's only loss of the season, San Antonio assignee Darius Washington tossed up a game high 29 points in a 119-113 revenge win over the Rio Grande Valley Vipers Tuesday night at Dodge Arena. The loss was the Vipers first at home this season and the first road victory for the Toros.

The game seemed to be business as usual for Rio Grande Valley. The Vipers led by as many as 13 after a 14-3 first quarter run that ended at the 2:30 minute mark. The Vipers led by as many as 11 points in the second at the 2:08 after a Gabe Muoneke lay-up. But, an 11-2 run by the Toros, capped off by a Keith Langford three pointer at the buzzer to end the half, cut the Toros deficit to two. The fourth quarter started in an 87-87 tie but the Vipers we outscored 32-26 in the final period to give the Toros the six-point victory. Vipers Head Coach Bob Hoffman was ejected with 2:53 left in the game.

Muoneke's 27 points and nine rebounds led the Vipers; and CJ Watson and Rockets assignee Aaron Brooks chipped in with 23 and 22 points respectively for Rio Grande Valley. Former KU star Keith Langford added a double-double for the Toros with 26 points and 11 rebounds to round out the stellar back-court play for Austin.

The Vipers will play their third game of a four game home stand when they face the Idaho Stampede Friday night at Dodge Arena. Friday will be "Affiliate Night presented by Adidas. The Vipers will wear New Orleans Hornets uniforms and the arena will feature performances by the New Orleans Hornets dance team and their mascot Hugo. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm in Hidalgo.
