
Washington Falls to Boomers

Schaumburg, IL - The Washington Wild Things fell to the Schaumburg Boomers in game two of a three game series by a final score of 7-2. Wild Things pitcher Brandon Hinkle is charged with the loss, striking out one in 4.1 innings pitched; his mound counterpart Gunnar Kines is credited with the win, striking out six and surrendering two runs in seven innings pitched.
The Boomers got out to an early lead when Paul Kronfield was driven in by an RBI double from Dusty Robinson, giving Schaumburg a 1-0 lead. The Wild Things threatened to score in the top of the 2nd with hits from David Popkins and Jimmy Yezzo, but solid fielding from the Boomers prevented any runs from scoring. Washington did find the scoreboard in the top of the 4th with an RBI double from Nick Ferdinand that brought home Bryan Haar, tying the game at 1-1.
A double by Austin Wobrock and RBI single from Andrew Heck in the top of the 5th put the Wild Things out front 2-1. The Boomers answered with a barrage of runs in the bottom of the 5th. An RBI single from Paul Kronefield tied the game at 2-2. A Dusty Robinson three run home run gave the Boomers a 5-1 lead. Jordan Dean added another run late in the inning, extending the lead to 7-2.
The Wild Things close out their series with the Boomers tomorrow night in Schaumburg. First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 EDT.
