Winston-Salem, NC â The Winston Salem Warthogs (6-2, 35-43) won at Salem, 10-4, Friday night. The 'hogs ended their two game losing streak, while Salem ended their three game winning streak. 'hogs' reliever, Rob Purvis, pitched 3 1/3 of scoreless relief in evening his record to 4-4. Salem starter, Mark McLemore, suffered the loss. McLemore gave up five earned runs on four hits in 4 1/3 inning.
The 'hogs trailed 4-2 in the top of the fifth inning. The Warthogs put across four runs, including a go-ahead two-run double by Carlos Lee. The 'hogs added more runs in the sixth, eighth, and ninth. The 'hogs had 13 hits and have 27 hits in the first two games of the series. Andy Gonzalez led the attack with three hits and two RBIs. Casey Rogowski, Ryan Sweeney, Josh Fields, and Carlos each two hits for Winston-Salem. Rogowski, Sweeney, and Lee each had two RBIs. Wade Robinson had three hits for Salem.
The Warthogs wrap up their three game series at Salem Saturday night. First pitch is at 6:05pm. RHP Kenny Ray (6-2) will make the start for Winston-Salem.
