Warthogs split Saturday DH with Wilmington

Winston-Salem, NC – The Winston-Salem Warthogs (15-10) split a doubleheader with Wilmington on Saturday night at Ernie Shore Field. The ‘hogs took game one, 6-1. The Blue Rocks came back to win the night cap, 15-1.

In game one, Franklin Francisco gave up one run on one hit in five innings to improve his record to 2-1 for the Warthogs in game one. Brian Bass yielded five runs on six hits in four innings, and saw his record fall to 1-1 for Wilmington. The Warthogs never trailed in game one and scored three runs in he first innings, two in the fourth, and one in the fifth. Mike Morse had two hits, while Brian Becker had two RBIs on two sac flies.

In game two, Brad Stiles won his first game for the Blue Rocks. Stiles gave up just two hits and no runs in two innings. Byeong An fell to 3-2 for Winston-Salem in his worst outing of the season. An was touched for six runs on six hits in two innings. The Blue Rocks scored six runs in second inning, five in the fourth, and three in the eighth. John Draper had three hits and five RBIs for Wilmington. Darren Fenster and Justin Cowan also had three hits for Wilmington. The Blue Rocks had 19 hits in game two, including two homeruns and six doubles.

The Blue Rocks and Warthogs will wrap up their four game series on Sunday afternoon at 2:05pm. RHP Wyatt Allen (0-1, 4.15) pitches for the Warthogs. Wilmington will go with RHP Zack Greinke (4-0, 0.67). All the play by play will be heard on 600/1200am WSJS and on the internet at www.warthogs.com.
