Frederick Keys News Release

A back and forth affair quickly grew into a one-sided game as Winston-Salem broke a 2-2 tie with three runs in the sixth inning and three more in the seventh on a Cole Armstrong three-run home run as Frederick fell 8-2 in the series opener at Ernie Shore Field.

The Warthogs big sixth inning immediately followed a game-tying solo home ruun from Keys 3B Ryan Finan to knot the game at 2-2. Finan, Frederick's leading active hitter in average, home runs and RBI's, had another big night. He went 3-for-4 in the losing effort.

The Keys fell behind with two-outs in the second inning, when Warthogs 3B Javier Castillo launched a two-run home run to put Winston-Salem on top 2-0. Both Winston-Salem home runs, which plated five runs in the game, came with two outs.

The series continues Wednesday, July 4th with a 7:00 p.m. Independence Day tilt.

The Keys will return home Friday, July 6th to face the Salem Avalanche at 6:30 p.m. It will be a fireworks night presented by CloseCall America.
