
Warthogs fall on Mother's Day, 11-3

Winston-Salem, NC â The Winston-Salem Warthogs (19-15) blew a two-out lead in the ninth inning of their ten inning 11-3 loss to Salem at Ernie Shore Field on Sunday. Warthogs' reliever Josh Fields gave up four runs in 2/3 of an inning and suffered his fourth straight loss in four straight appearances. Juan Campos earned his first win for Salem.
The Warthogs took the lead in the second when Mike Morse and Casey Rogowski hit back to back doubles to go up 1-0. The Warthogs added an insurance run with a Mike Morse RBI single in the eighth.
Ryan Meaux was pitching in the ninth when Salem got an RBI double from Joe Lydic. The run was the first in 28 innings that Meax had given up. The Hogs were up 2-1 with two outs in the night when Meaux was replaced by Josh Fields. Ryan Stegall popped up to right field and Daylan Holt missed played the ball as Lydic scored to tie the game at 2.
Salem would then score nine runs on eight his in the top of the tenth inning. The Warthogs scored nine runs on eight hits in the 3rd inning on Saturday. The Warthogs did score a run in the bottom of the tenth after an RBI single by Eric Welsh. The win earned Salem a two game split of the four game series.
The Warthogs will play an DH against Lynchburg on Monday at 6:05pm. Warthogs' RHP Kris Honel will toss against Lynchburg RHP Bobby Bradley in game one. Winston-Salem RHP Kris McWhirter will throw against Hillcats RHP Jason Sharber in game two. All the play by play will be heard on 600/1200am WSJS and on the internet at www.warthogs.com.
