WILMINGTON, DE – A Robbie Morrison balk in the top of the 12th inning was the difference as the Myrtle Beach Pelicans defeated the Wilmington Blue Rocks, 6-5, Saturday night at Frawley Stadium. The game was fours hours and 52 minutes in length and was played in front 6,456 fans.

Trailing 1-0 in the first, the Blue Rocks (21-13) tied the score at 1-1 on a Scott Walter RBI single. The Pelicans plated a run in the third on a Scott Thorman RBI double to make it 2-1. The Rocks exploded for four runs in the bottom of the inning, highlighted by Chris Fallon's sixth homerun of the season, a three-run shot to right-center field.

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans (11-22) trailed in the fourth and scored one run to make it, 5-3, scoring on an RBI groundout by Greg Miller. The Pelicans tied the score at 5-5 in the seventh behind an RBI single from Tony Pena and a Mike Natale wild pitch.

Matt Wright started and went four and one-third innings for the Pelicans, allowing the five runs on 10 hits. Denny McDaniel, Ralph Roberts and Paul Bush (2-3) closed out the game for Myrtle Beach, allowing a combined three hits.

Kyle Middleton fell short of winning a Carolina League-leading sixth game, going five innings while allowing three runs on eight hits. The Rocks had Aric Leclair, Natale, Barry Armitage, Jorge Vasquez and Morrison take the hill. All together, the staff allowed six walks and fanned 12 batters on the night.

For the Blue Rocks, John Draper went 3-for-7 with two runs scored, while teammate Scott Walter had seven at-bats with two hits. Justin Cowan finished with his third straight multi-hit game, finishing with three hits. Darren Fenster and Fallon closed out the night with two hits apiece as Wilmington had 13 hits for the game. Myrtle Beach had 14 hits on the night highlighted by Andy Marte collecting three doubles.

BLUE ROCKS NOTES: The Blue Rocks and the Myrtle Beach Pelicans conclude their four-game weekend series on Sunday afternoon at 1:35 p.m. The Rocks send southpaw Chris Tierney (2-3) to the hill and he will oppose Zack Miner (2-2). The Rocks are now 11-9 when committing an error and have had three errors in two straight games. The Rocks have had three errors in six games this season. Wilmington is 11-2 when a Rock hits a homerun. Aaron Herr left the game for the Pelicans after being struck by a Middleton pitch.
