Moose Jaw Warriors News Release
The Moose Jaw Warriors are still buzzing after Saturday's 10-goal performance in front of a packed house at Mosaic Place.
"It was unreal," Warriors defenceman Majid Kaddoura said after practice this week. "Just to see that crowd and the energy they gave us, that obviously helped us a lot and put up 10 in front of them, hopefully keep them coming back."
Saturday's game saw 4,895 people pack into Mosaic Place for the largest regular season crowd in the facility's 10-year history.
Homegrown Warriors forward Atley Calvert said the team really fed off the crowd throughout the night on their way to a 10-4 win over the rival Regina Pats.
"Even in warmup, there was already a ton of people here, there was already a buzz and the fans did a great job," Calvert said.
"It was pretty cool, I've never seen this building that full before, so to play as well as we did, in front of that crowd, is pretty special."
The Warriors are hoping to see fans turn out in large numbers again going into the final two home games of the regular season on the next two Saturdays.
"If it's a full boat then the crowds going to be a difference marker," Calvert said.
The Warriors have a big matchup on tap for Saturday when they will host the Saskatoon Blades, who Moose Jaw could face in the first round of the 2022 WHL Playoffs.
Kaddoura said the team knows it needs to solve the Blades, who have given them trouble this season.
"They've got a lot of top guys there and we just have to play them hard," he said. "If we're heavy on them, they'll shy away and then just play our game, we have a lot of skill in this room and are skill can take over."
Calvert added that the Warriors will need to be tighter defensively against the Blades then they were in last Saturday's win over Regina.
"It's going to be harder checking, tighter, but we're going to have two more good days of practice and we'll be ready for Saturday," he said.
The Warriors currently sit three points clear of the Blades for fourth place in the Eastern Conference, however, Saskatoon has won five straight against Moose Jaw in their season series.
"In our own bard and another crack at them, I think it's going to be a fun game on Saturday," Calvert said.
The Warriors and Blades face-off at 7 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets are available at mjwarriors.ca.
