
Warriors Guard Damion Lee Joins USA Basketball for FIBA World Cup Qualifying Games

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - USA Basketball announced today that Santa Cruz Warriors guard Damion Lee has joined the official 12-member USA team that will participate in the upcoming FIBA World Cup Qualifying first round, second window games on Friday, Feb. 23 against Cuba and Monday, Feb. 26 against Puerto Rico at Santa Cruz's Kaiser Permanente Arena.
In 32 games (10 starts) with the Santa Cruz Warriors this season, Lee has averaged 14.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.38 steals in 28.6 minutes per game. The second-year Louisville graduate will join the USA national team on Thursday, February 22 at 11:00 a.m. for training at Santa Cruz's Kaiser Permanente Arena.
"Damion Lee has grown into a dependable contributor and locker room presence throughout this season, and I'm thrilled that he earned this opportunity to play in these FIBA World Cup Qualifying games," said Santa Cruz Warriors General Manager Kent Lacob.
Lee was selected by USA Basketball following the signing of Canton Charge guard Marcus Thornton to a 10-day contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers earlier today.
The USA will host two home games during the second window of the FIBA World Cup Qualifying first round. The U.S. will play Cuba on Friday, Feb. 23 (tip-off 8:00 p.m.) and against Puerto Rico on Monday, Feb. 26 (tip-off 8:00 p.m.) at Kaiser Permanente Arena in Santa Cruz, California.
