
Walters wins 8th in Cats 1-0 victory

In front of 4,614 fans, Walters carried the shutout into the ninth, retired the first two hitters, then hit Carlos Sepulveda with a pitch before Steve Wilkerson came on to notch his fifth save, retiring the final batter of the game.
The win, the second straight for the Cats, evened up their second half record at 5-5. Their overall record imrpoved to 29-29.
Walters (8-4) moved to the top of the leaderboard in wins as he collected the victory. He allowed no runs on three hits, struck out six and walked one.
The only run in the game came in the third inning when Tony Mota singled home Terence Green. The Cats defense was superb, turning critical double plays in the fifth and eighth innings behind Walters.
Robert Wachman (2-1) sustained the loss despite allowing just one runs on six hits in seven innings pitched, his longest outing of the season.
The series continues on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m . Dan Grybash will pitch for the Cats with Andy Torres on the mound for El Paso.
