Utah Flash News Release

OREM, Utah, Jan. 6, 2009-Boston Celtics assignee Bill Walker poured in a team-high 26 points and was one of five Utah players to reach double-figures in scoring as the Flash picked up a 109-100 NBA Development League victory Friday night in the final game of day two of the NBA Development League Showcase at the McKay Events Center.

The Flash was assigned the Utah Jazz's Kyrylo Fesenko prior to the matchup, and also reacquired last season's starting big man James Lang leading up to the contest with the Arsenal. Utah, who recorded 60 points in the paint, got 12 points and seven rebounds from Fesenko while Lang added 13 points off the Flash bench on 6-of-7 (85%) shooting.

"Having an interior presence with Fesenko and Lang is tremendous." Flash head coach Brad Jones said. "When the guys know that they can throw the ball inside to a threat in the post, it makes our offense that much better.

"We ran our offense terrific today." Jones added. "We made the extra pass, and when we couldn't, we attacked the rim, penetrated and created opportunities to make the extra pass."

The Arsenal got 10 third quarter points from Cedric Bozeman, and a Chet Mason jumper put the Arsenal on top 70-67 with 42 seconds remaining in the third period. Utah responded with an old-fashioned three-point play from Carlos Wheeler to tie the game, 70-70, heading into the final quarter.

Utah recorded 39 points in the final quarter-beginning the period with a 12-2 run that was capped off by a Fesenko lay-up. Anaheim responded with an 8-2 run to pull within four points of the Flash, but was unable to cut the margin to less than four.

Dontell Jefferson chipped in 18 points for the Flash in his first game back from a shoulder injury. J.R. Giddens, on assignment from the Boston Celtics, added 16.

Anaheim's James White led all scorers with 31 points, while Noel Felix added 16. Cedric Bozeman and Kedrick Brown chipped in 15 and 10 points respectively for the Arsenal. Chet Mason added 13.

Utah (7-8) will return to action in the Showcase Thursday at 7:15 p.m. against the Los Angeles D-Fenders, while the Arsenal (5-10) will take on the Colorado 14ers in Showcase action at 1:45 p.m. Thursday.
