July 30, 2012 - American Association (AA)
El Paso Diablos News Release

EL PASO, TX- Welington Dotel's bases loaded infield single scored Maikol Gonzalez in the bottom of the tenth inning and gave the Diablos a three-game sweep of the division rival Amarillo Sox and a four-game winning streak heading into an off day Monday.

The Diablos have now won 22 of their last 31 games and are 25-20 under manager Tim Johnson.

The Diablos have made a habit lately of producing late comeback victories, but this time had to withstand a late rally by the Sox. Ahead 6-4 into the eighth, Amarillo tied the game on a solo home run by Alberto Espinosa and an RBI single b Tyler Goodro.

El Paso built its lead on solid situational hitting. Leading 1-0, J.J. Muse knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly in the second to push the lead to 2-0. Welington Dotel and Zane Chavez each had RBI's in the third to jump ahead 4-0.

Jonathan Cisneros' RBI hit in the seventh gave the Diablos a two-run cushion after Amarillo had rallied to within one.

Justin Harper pitched two scoreless innings to pick up the victory for El Paso, while Sox reliever Derek Christensen only got one out in the tenth in taking the loss.

The Diablos are 29-36 heading into the off day before taking on the first place Grand Prairie Air Hogs at home in a three-game set beginning Tuesday.
